Explore Bioscience: Real Talk, Real Stories

Over 100 students gathered on 5 March 2026 for Explore Bioscience, jointly organised by Sunway Career Services in collaboration with Pre-U and supported by the Faculty of Medical & Life Sciences.

The session featured three experienced scientists, including Ts. Tan Kian Shing (Medical Laboratory Scientist), Ts. Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan (Biotechnology), and Dr. Shawn Keng (Molecular Genomics), who shared candid insights into their professional journeys, the realities of working in bioscience, and emerging opportunities in the field. Their honest stories and practical advice sparked lively discussion and gave students a clearer understanding of the diverse career pathways within bioscience.

The session was moderated by Aminuddin Baharudin, Senior Lecturer of Biology in the Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) programme.

The programme continued with a Bioscience Degree Preview by Prof. Felicia Chung, Head of Biomedical Sciences at the Faculty of Medical & Life Sciences, who offered students a glimpse into potential academic pathways in the field.

A key feature of the Explore Series is its integrated format, which brings together industry perspectives and academic pathways within a single engaging session. The event concluded with a networking Q&A with the speakers, allowing students to interact directly and deepen their understanding of the bioscience landscape.

Explore Bioscience marks the first of many initiatives under the Explore Series, which aims to connect students with industry professionals and help them discover potential career directions.
