Sunway Diploma Studies Strengthens Digital Education with Alibaba GDT-Certified Lecturers

Sunway Diploma Studies (SDS) is proud to announce that four of our lecturers – Ms Ruba Loshani Langa Singham, Ms Premila Subramanium, Ms Nurul Aini Khatijah Yusof and Ms Izreen Fara Azli – have successfully obtained the Alibaba Global Digital Talent (GDT) Certification in 2025. This achievement follows the certification of 6 other lecturers last year, bringing the total number of GDT-certified academics in SDS to 10. The 2025 GDT programme was conducted from 20 May to 19 June 2025, and was delivered through live online lectures, pre-recorded content and independent study.

The programme consisted of two major learning tracks – Digital Transformation (DT) and Digital Entrepreneurship (DE) – and it is designed to prepare educators and learners to thrive in the fast-evolving digital economy. The Digital Transformation track introduced lecturers to how industries and economies evolve through technological change. It covers the foundations of the digital economy, including the adoption of AI in business, digital transformation in retail, finance, logistics and supply chain, shifts in workforce expectations, modern digital marketing practices, and the growing importance of sustainability and ESG in strategic business development. Together, these topics provided lecturers with a broad understanding of technology-driven industry change and future business needs.

Meanwhile, the Digital Entrepreneurship track strengthened participants’ ability to build and guide technology-enabled business ventures. Key lessons included holistic business thinking, real case studies of successful digital strategies, customer-focused product and service development, mission-driven entrepreneurship, effective digital marketing and the fundamentals of pitching for early-stage investment. Through this component, lecturers gained insights into entrepreneurial thinking grounded in real digital business practices.

In January 2026, SDS will be introducing the Diploma in Digital Entrepreneurship programme, which is designed to strengthen students’ competencies in digital business, innovation and future-ready skills. The programme will continue to invest in professional development and industry partnerships that enhance teaching quality and ensure our students are prepared for the realities of a digital-first world, and the GDT certification marks another milestone in our long-term commitment to future-ready education.
