Shaping an AI-Ready Generation: Leadership, Learning and the Human Advantage

At the TNB Energy Transition Conference 2026, ASLI CEO Danial Rahman moderated a timely dialogue on the opportunities and challenges presented by artificial intelligence and the role today’s leaders must play in preparing future generations for an increasingly technology-driven world.

The discussion explored how AI is reshaping education, work and society while underscoring that technological advancement alone will not determine future outcomes. The ability of institutions, educators, parents and policymakers to guide its responsible adoption will shape whether AI serves as a force for inclusion, innovation and human development.

While AI will continue to transform how people learn and work, qualities such as empathy, judgement, adaptability and meaningful human connection remain essential and cannot be automated. The conversation also highlighted the need for educators to continuously upskill, parents to actively engage in guiding AI usage and society as a whole to approach AI with both curiosity and critical awareness.

Driving this discussion were distinguished panelists: Professor Ir. Dr. Khairul Salleh Mohamed Sahari, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN); Mr Leon Jala, Group CEO, PEMANDU Associates and Ms Natalie Loi, Head of Technology, UnBound Sdn Bhd.

We thank Tenaga Nasional Berhad for convening this important conversation.
